Immunizations

Many diseases are now preventable due to the use of vaccines, as they help the body produce antibodies against the specific disease. If the individual is exposed to the disease, the antibodies from the immunization are on-board to prevent illness formation. For individuals traveling to different parts of the world, vaccines can greatly reduce their risk of becoming ill from a foreign bug or disease.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) believes that immunization is essential to preventing the spread of contagious diseases. Vaccines are especially important for at-risk populations such as young children and older adults.
